ABOUT US
PRALID was founded in 1994 by the parent of a young man with a brain injury who was seeking more adequate services for her son than the system provided. The Agency opened with one IRA which was home to four young men with brain injury. We were soon asked by the State to provide services to additional hard-to serve individuals, many of whom had been turned away by other agencies.
In response to this critical need, PRALID opened additional homes, developed day and evening programs and provided in-home and vocational services to individuals with traumatic brain injury and a wide range of developmental disabilities including autism.
PRALID programs and services are developed to address the unique needs of the individuals we serve and assist them in developing the skills necessary to maximize their potential for independence. We provide a continuum of community-based, person-centered services that allow each participant to progress at his or her own pace, and services delivered are based on the individual consumer’s strengths, capabilities, interests and needs.
PRALID continues to raise the bar on services to individuals with neurological disabilities. Our programs and services are open to other agencies, and we encourage collaboration so that we can share ideas and experiences and, together, best meet the needs of those we serve.
PRALID is state certified under the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) and also provides services under the New York State Department of Health Waiver Program (DOH) and the Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID). |
